A new player in the race

An Official Pronouncement from the Bowels of LOWAG SOTY 2006 HQ

Dear Readers:

As I sort through various contenders for LOWAG's SOTY for 2006, I feel an obligation to tell you that a new song has made a late push to become SOTY 2006. Some of you may have read my letter to Gary Lightbody that was unfortunately leaked to the press (through this very website no less...a travesty, such a travesty) that informed Mssrs. Lightbody et al. that I was pulling my support for Chasing Cars in favor of another song. However, an associate of mine pointed out that is seems awfully disingenuous of me to criticize the song based on an acoustic performance that I heard while not applying the same rigorous standards to other available performances of all songs contending for SOTY 2006. Thus, I am throwing out that recording as a basis for judging which means that the original version still lurks as a contender. The new song making a late push is Crane's Wife 3 by the Decemberists. This has created quite a mess. A judgment shall be made in the next two weeks. I hope you all appreciate the difficulty this is causing me. I hope you will all compensate me accordingly.
