Only one paper is left...

I have one more paper to finish and then I am free to graduate. Yesterday, I completed the awful day of 2 papers, 1 presentation and 1 final. The 15 page paper looming over me right now is nothing compared to the burden of the previous three weeks.

Some how, some way, I have managed to pay attention to the Jazz's incredible feats of awesomeness in the playoffs including vanquishing the Rockets in a masterful game 7 that made me giddy and cutting down the Warriors and reducing them to the jerks they are. Much like with the Zidane thing at the World Cup (you know, "Zizu is such a classy player, this is so out of character"...yeah...what about when he stomped on the Saudi player at the end of a rout in the first round of the 1998 World Cup?), I don't care how nice a person every one can claim you are, if you drill someone in the head with a forearm just because you missed a three point shot at the end of a game, you're a jerk. Sorry, Baron Davis. As for the Jason Richardson thing, I think that if had at least tried for the ball, it would have been a little better. As is, I'm enjoying watching Okur get drilled and then popping back up looking for a fight (see first round, game 6 after Juwan Howard fouled him hard). I'm kind of disappointed that Araujo hasn't played at all this series as he has a history of fouling people really hard and causing great controversy which would be explosive in a series full of Stephen Jackson types.

I asked Josh if Utah is abuzz with Jazz hype and he said he's not, which is disappointing, but perhaps he's just an old curmudgeon. Back in the day, when the Jazz did well, the entire Wasatch front was electric. It was awesome. So, hopefully they'll be able to close out the Warriors tonight in Game 5 and then wait for the epic Spurs-Suns battle to end. I went to bed last night at midnight expecting the Spurs to win. They were frustrating the Suns to no end and we're playing so efficiently well on offense. I was very much surprised to see the Suns pull out the win in the end. Impressive. Steve Nash looked angry all game. You know, in the third quarter you could tell that they just entered this phase where they didn't care what happened at the defensive end, but on the offensive end they were going to go full throttle. I guess it worked out by the 4th quarter because the Spurs were matching them shot for shot in the 3rd.

Although Second Coming by the Stone Roses is roundly condemned, I can't get away from it. I enjoy it more than their first album and I think it has to do with that I do not own antoehr album that features such impressive guitar work. Yes, the album is criticized specifically for the self-indulgent 5 minute guitar solos of John Squire...but they're so GOOD! I'm all about it.

Related to my previous post about rating music with 5 stars, without thought, I rated Achtung Baby as I listened to it. 8 5-star songs out of 11. Incredible. Best album of all time.. Yeah, I really think so. Really. I know the older folks like my dad will stroke their collective beards and say..."Hmmmm mmmmm, I doubt that young man! Go listen to the Beatles again and you'll find the greatest albums of all time" I sent my dad Apple Blossom by the White Stripes and he sent me back I Feel Fine by the Beatles and told me if I really wanted to listen to the root of Apple Blossom I should just listen to the Beatles. He did the same thing when I played him Radiohead when I was a teenager. He said, "This guy sounds like a band I like." And then he lent me his Bread's Greatest Hits cassette tape. And the weird thing was...Thom Yorke DID sound like the lead singer of Bread!!

I'm abuzz with Jazz fever. Helps when you work for a company with a suite... and those suite tix happen to somehow trickle your way every now and again. Even for playoff games. Caught Game 4 of the Houston series. Game 1 of Golden State (which almost gave me a heart attack, holy poo, what an amazing game) and, well, I may be headed to Game 5 tonight. I know, I know. Hate me. I hate a little bit of myself. But I mostly love it. How 'bout this Jazz?!!

Doug. Josh is kind of right regardless of the curmudgeon thing. Really, everyone in the Wasatch valley has heard that the Jazz are doing great, and you can hear a peppy little kick in their voices when they talk about them. But for the most part they are still suspicious and afraid of getting hurt. So I think most people are still only watching when convenvient. I hope the Suns get by the Spurs so that we can pound the Suns in our sleep. I think if they can get to the final round, everybody will watch and the Jazz fever will become an epidemic once again. What would be freaky weird is if it ended up being the Jazz against the Bulls again. What are the chances?

Gretchen Wilson? You're referring Gretchen Wilson to me? You've got to be kidding. Frontrunner, huh? Wait till this leaks out to the Wasatch Front Hipsters Union. You're finished, Anderson

Not Gretchen Wilson, you fool. The National. Boxer. Un-be-lievable.
