Dear Dave and Caleb,
About 15 years from now, as we are watching some sporting event, one or both of you will ask, "Dad, did you see Barry Bonds hit 756?" I will answer, "No" and you will both be incredibly disappointed because I will have told you the story about watching McGwire hit 62, watching the 49ers win three Super Bowls, watching almost every World Series and NBA Finals just because these are historic sports moments. So how could I have missed 756? Well, sons, it has to do with the East, work and fatherhood. Every morning in 2007 Caleb woke up at 6:00 AM. I had to leave for work at eight. We lived in Maryland. That fateful night I stayed up until 11:30 watching the game and made the fateful decision to go to bed, banking that Bonds would not hit 756 in his final two ABs of the night. It was a mistake. A mistake that would not have been made if I hadn't have decided to drag us all East, instead of farther West. I regret the decision. I'm sorry. Let's hope in the next 15 year someone breaks the record so you never ask me about 756, but about 779.
Dad

You know... I think there are very few sporting events that I have seen that I can even remember. If I were in your Dad's shoes, I might have seen it, and then would forget that I ever had. But considering how much in the way of sports I watch, I'm sure I'll never see anything worth while remembering anyways. :-/
P.S.
Go to vocational school and become electricians. Higher education is for yuppies. Oh yeah, and live it up before you turn 18. Because then it's all down freakin hill.
I pray, for your sake Doug, that your kids even like sports. They may end up like BJ and not give a hooey. I know, I know...you'll try your darnedest to raise them properly, but we've all seen those TV shows where the boy ended up quite different than their daddy and you were always left wondering whether or not the dad would still love them. Dave and Caleb--your father will NOT love you if you do not love sports (the Giants at least).
