Tugging on the heart strings

The above image, entitled "girl behind fence", was associated with an Urban Institute article about illegal immigration and the number of children that are affected by workplace raids that capture illegal immigrants and send them back to wherever they came from. Obviously, the picture depicts a little girl peering through the chain link, trying to find her parents somewhere in a vast tent city outside of Houston waiting to be deported back to Stockholm and their wretched lives as wards of the state. They just wanted to come to America to work! *sob* But that Swedish government...just...wouldn't...let...them..."Don't work!", they said. "Here are some Euros to not work! Please, we beg of you."
And some people are against amnesty...Shame on you (to use a phrase popular among the elite "letters-to-the-editors" crowd).

From your sarcasm, I can tell you are certainly against amnesty. And I don't blame you. But I am for a more liberal view on immigration. And what can I say... I like the picture too! ;-) Doug... when are you going to come to Utah long enough for anybody to see you? I keep hearing that you came and went like a thief in the night. I would love to have a good game of racquetball punctuated with a rousing torrent of debate on pointless politics (including a picture of a girl behind a fence). ;-)

Hee. Beej, do you liberal views on immigration included giving illegal immigrants all the rights they want but refusing to allow educated and profitable foreigners to immigrate legally? No idea. Just asking. Hi, Doug. :) Thanks for your support in the Golden Compass debate. Catch you all sometime in the funnies! And get rid of that log-in! I don't want people accessing my blog without my permission. :P
