Please Fill All Circles With Blood

The above directions appear in three places in the world: At the top of a Mayan ziggaurat, etched into a sarsen stone at Stonehenge, and on the stupid PKG (?) heel prick test for infants. We took Megelizer in for her week check-up (yes! Meg is a week tomorrow!) and they pricked both of her heels to fill up this circles on some stupid chart to get blood work done. I mean, isn't modern medicine past this? Isn't there an easier way to draw blood? It really bugged me.

Also, why are there rectal thermometers still in this world? They have these awesome instruments that they quickly slide across your forehead to get your temperature. It's simple, it's brilliant, it really should be commercially available. But no...doctors stick with the rectals...
