I've added the Giants widget to the top of the blog because I'm so pumped about Opening Day. As the Giants are currently 1-0 despite Lincecum getting drilled, the widget sits at the top of the page. As the Giants begin their midseason swoon in June, the widget will most likely be pushed to the sidebar, and if they finish miserably like last year, the widget will be buried at the bottom of the page. But it shall never be removed until the end of the season because I have a Giant Attitude (courtesy of a collector's pin from the 1989 WS season) which endows me with the Hmmm Baby spirit (as explained in the card that came with the collector's pin) which I guess means that no matter how bad the Giants stink, I will follow them.
And let's be honest. If the Giants bats are even remotely similar to that offensive explosion yesterday, the Giants are totally going to win the NL West because pitching does not look like it's going to be a problem. Lincecum, Matt Cain, and Randy Johnson pitching at PacBell (yes, I still call it that)? Gonna be lights out. (Still, it's hard to be too excited with a team that for the third straight year features Bengie Molina as clean-up hitter and just brought in the forever-ancient Edgar Renteria at SS. Here's to hoping that Pablo Sandoval's going to be as great as they say.)

I'm trying really hard to care about the Giants this year... but it's a telling sign that they were in Seattle over Memorial Day weekend and we didn't make the 3-hour drive to see them. As you point out here... Bengie Molina is their clean-up hitter. And I'm supposed to pay $20/pop to see them? Maybe I'll just watch a few innings on Fox Sports Northwest and read the recap on ESPN.com. Tell me what a pathetic fan I am, I deserve it.
