The most impressive non-steroidedly fueled performance of the night came from Jacoby Ellsbury who made a spectacular home-run robbing catch on a dead sprint in CF. Just a wow moment. Actually, that's what I said. I just sat there saying, "Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow." Also of note: I thought it would be fun to chant a sarcastic "M-V-P" after Dustin Pedroia got caught stealing. But, no one else thought that would be fun. Which is why pro stadiums need student sections. Student sections pick up mean and sarcastic chants at a moment's notice and then remember the mean sarcastic chants inning-to-inning, game-to-game. (I still love the left-right chant at the Marriott Center for players that foul out.) Maybe a more baseball-friendly crowd like the bleacher bums in Chicago would do that. Yeah, the Baltimore fans seemed to consist entirely of women between the ages of 15 and 25 all wearing Brian Roberts or Nick Markakis shirts...

Steeeeeeeeeeeeer----oids
We went up to the Os-Red Sox game on my birthday along with 30 or so Andersons. Which meant that this was the first time that David Ortiz had to face a hostile crowd since it came out that he tested positive for steroids in 2003. Two important notes: 1) This was anything but a hostile crowd, seeing how the split was about 60-40 for the Red Sox 2) Seeing how I am a Giants fan, when I jeer other players for being steroid users, I am obviously a hypocrite as I cheered for steroid-loaded teams for the past 15 years. Setting aside that obvious hypocrisy, it was nice to finally chant "Steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrroids!" at an opposing player instead of listening to everyone taunt the players on your team. It was fun. (And I'm sure it set a wonderful example for my impressionable children.) Although the cheers from the Red Sox fans often drowned out the steroid chants. (Matt A. tried to get a "P-E-Ds" chant going, but that went nowhere.) Especially when Oritz homered. Kinda like when Bonds homered at RFK and the whole crowd shut up and I cheered really loud, except the exact opposite.
