The Window

And the Giants are in the playoffs after holding off the Padres, the only team that truly struck fear in me this year. After all, the padres and the Giants are practically the same team: awesome pitching, inept offense, except that against the Giants, the Padres pitching was absurdly good.

Speaking of the awesome pitching of the Giants, consider that the starting pitchers of the Giants did not get injured the entire year, save for Todd Wellemeyer, who was wretched in the first two months. Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez, Zito, and Bumgarner were all injury-free which is beyond lucky. I'll have to investigate, but I bet that the giants starting pitchers spent less time on the DL than any other team. There is no conceivable way this will happen in the next few seasons while the Giants still have all these young pitchers under contract, and there's no offensive threat coming up from the minors to cushion the blow of injuries to the Giants staff. Oh, and there's no way that the bullpen can be as good as they have been this year. So, this is the narrow window for the Giants to win a championship in the next decade. I'm giddy just thinking about it (and also mentally prepared for an utter meltdown in the NLDS and a swift exit, for that seems to be more like the way of the Giants).
