The Giants had every right to fold. Two crushing walk-off homers in extra innings against the Rockies which had been preceded by a game in which they blew a 6-1 lead. Yeah, they could have swept the Rockies. Instead, they lost three of four and fell 4 games back in the wild card race. If they were the Cubs, they would have folded their tents, and gone into the wilderness to rebuild for the 101st year. But the G-men are showing spines of steel. Despite falling behind to the D-Backs the last two games, they have rallied in the eight inning to win. And with the Rockies losing earlier today, if the Giants win tonight they will be right back to within 2 games of the Rockies with the Rockies coming to SF for a weekend series where they will have to face the wrath of Lincecum and Cain. I've been expecting them to fade for the last month, and each time they are on the verge, they pull themselves together. This, even with Freddy Sanchez on the DL and Ryan Garko absolutely sucking it up at Pac Bell (nice deadline trades Sabean. Should have gone for Holliday.)
(It feels like there are ten games left in the season...I checked, and it's more like 35. So, being three games back of the Rockies and six back of the Dodgers isn't so impossible to overcome.)
