Is there anything more repugnant than to blog about blogging? It's so navel-gazing, like a really bad rock band that can't think of any better theme to rock about besides rock 'n roll, fame, and women they meet through being famous and rock 'n roll stars. Anyway, I've perused blogs of others that I know and have come to the conclusion that a true blog consists of a series of snippets of pithy commentary and pictures gleaned from the internet that somewhat relates to the pithy commentary (that typically is limited to a sentence of two; anything more must be considered too windbaggish). Obviously, my blog is nothing like this, which probably means I need to stop pretending I'm blogging. I must be journaling or something like that, which means that I really should be writing a word document and puting a password on it. Does this mean I should kill my blog? Well, the term "should" carries too much of a normative connotation. Perhaps at a later date we can discuss this. Perhaps I'll eventually kill the blog because it's masquerading as something it's not. But for now, I'll pretend that this is transcriberofthoughtsand lifeeventser.com.
Go Giants. After being left for dead, they've decided the postseason would be something intriguing to be involved in and have made a run to get back to .500. Good for them. Jonathan Sanchez might be replacing Brad Hennessey who has been spot starting after Wright has been looking like puke. I might be okay with this because Sanchez has pitched great all year, once again buried in relief like Hennessey. If the Gigantes sweep the Pads this week they will only be a half game out of the wild card (or maybe they'll be in the lead, I can't remember).
I'm listening to the BYU-Tulsa game right now, and as much as I still enjoy listening to the Cougs, nothing beats the experience of watching Ty Detmer absolutely massacre teams in the early 90s. The best was the 70-31 beatdown of Utah...but that was only because it was Utah. I think if you wanted a pure unadulterated thrashing, it was when they beat New Mexico 65-0. Now, I listen to games and when BYU wins, they win by 14 or 7 or lose stupid games because they didn't score enough points like last week against Arizona. I remember those beuatiful bombs to Tyler Anderson and Andy Boyce...I remember Detmer flinging a 50+ yard touchdown pass to Boyce in the midst of a driving snow storm against Air Force. A few years later, I was walking the halls of Orem High and came across the former deep threat Anderson monitoring the halls. It was a sad moment. What a lousy post. Just lousy.
