We, your fearless leaders, have gotten our heads together to decide how best to reward you for all of your good work and service at the University of Maryland. We wrestled with the decision over several weeks, but then, huzzah! As if a revelation, it hit us! What would the faculty and staff of the great University of Maryland like more than this??

That's right! An aerial shot of students (led by Testudo), half-heartedly holding up our well wishes to all of you! Why, this is worth more to you than any bonus! Oh, and we also prepared a video of us getting this shot ready, because, well, we needed to spend your potential bonus money on something.
Oh, and one other thing. Thanks to an absolutely massive budget deficit brought about by the absence of a rainy day fund (because who could have predicted the housing bubble?), providing Medicaid to people up to 300 percent of poverty, and lots of really questionable spending by our localities (see Jack Johnson's junket to Senegal to "promote" business in PG County), we are asking every UMD employee to take at least two days of unpaid furlough.
So...
Happy Holidays!

Well, they couldn't have made it any clearer they want you rats to flee the ship. Sell the homestead, pack the wagon, and head west, boy.
Sounds about right. BTW, Midlake's "Roscoe" (in your 2006 playlist on the right, I think) is a huge studio favorite at Struck PDX. Such an amazing song. When it hits our speakers, we all sing the tale of Roscoe. Sounds like Fleetwood Mac, but awesome.
