The impact of Buster Posey

Buster Posey was called up nine games ago. In those nine games, the Giants have gone 6-3 and scored 44 runs, an average of 4.8 runs per game. In the previous forty-seven games, the Giants scored 192 runs, or an average of 4.1 runs per game.

Posey is hitting .455 in those 9 games, with an OBP of .486. So, he has been on base a total of 16 times. No home runs, four doubles. The man is always on base. So, where was he in the lineup today? Oh, hitting 7th, to make sure that when he gets on base that Aaron Rowand and then the pitcher won't be able to drive him in.

In other news, Freddy Sanchez is hitting .500 in his last nine games or so and he's batting second. So, two red-hot hitters, two guys always on base...and we make sure to space them out so there is no freaking way they will ever be on base when the other one is at the plate. But, as I mentioned above, runs are up. The Giants have won three out of their last four DESPITE giving up four or more runs in each of those games. That would have been a four game losing streak last year. Here's to hoping that Bochy will wake up someday soon and put Posey somewhere in front of Huff or Uribe. (How pathetic is it that Juan Uribe is the power man in the Giants lineup? He's playing great, but still, there's no way he should be the team leader in HRs.)
